Dear Community,
Thanks all for participating in our ROBONOMICS NETWORK AMA. We really appreciate all your support. There were really good and thoughtful questions that were asked. For those who missed our AMA, this blog post is for you
Introduction!
Mayank – Hello @akru_me @EnsRationis A warm welcome to CryptoNationIN. 🎉🎊
Sergei – Hello everyone!
Alexander – Hello👋
Mayank – Before we start, I request you to tell about yourself and about ROBONOMICS NETWORK to the community.
Sergei – Sergei, from Russia, working on Bitcoin projects since 2012, from 2015 with @akru_me we working on Robonomics project as a vision of Economy of Robots over Ethereum and other decentralized computers networks. Robonomics for our team is a scientific project, where we interesting to find approaches to solve the side effects of total robotization what happening on eyes.
Alexander – So, thank you Sergei. I also try to introduce myself a bit. I’m from technical side, got master degree at ITMO University for intellectual technologies in robotics branch. Develop for Ethereum from 2015th, for Polkadot we started works from 2018th, it was looks so perspective. I love functional programming as well, tried to bring something into Ethereum as Haskell Web3 library. Probably that’s all.
Mayank – What are your plans for Robonomics Network in 2020?
Sergei – I think @akru_me will be agree – Parachain on Kusama.
Alexander – Shortly, yes, main focus on Polkadot ecosystem.
Sergei – We spent last 2 years with focus on Polkadot ecosystem, and want to bring robonomics in 2020 more faster and more cheaper then robonomics works today over ethereum 1.0.
Twitter Questions
Q1. Reading ROBONOMICS whitepaper, it’s too technical, so could you explain to me by simple words to help beginners like me understand about ROBONOMICS clearly?
Sergei – Here is how human-to-machine interaction works taday. You send financial transaction to bank, bank send event to it company and it company control or send technical transaction to machine.

Here is how it can be after first decentralized computer was invented. Today we can combine technical and economical data into one tx. That is simple answer to this question i guess…

Q2. Can you list 1-3 killer features of ROBONOMICS NETWORK that makes it ahead of its competitors? What is the competitive advantage your platform has that you feel most confident about?
Alexander – P2P payment / task delivery layer for machines
– multiple network support: Ethereum & Polkadot
– strong integration with robotics
– wide academical robotics society
Sergei – And we have article Robonomics can (https://blog.aira.life/robonomics-can-72f631824670) where you can find some additional features.
Q3. I understand that it would take a frequent payment of XRT tokens to keep the equipment operational, really what would be the plans and cost of these services? How much and with what timing would it have to be paid?
Sergei – We expect suitable for IoT market price of usage Robonomics network when we will launch parachain in Polkadot ecosystem, Comparable with cloud-based IoT services like AWS IoT or Azure IoT. For now, Robonomics over only ethereum expensive and will be useful for very important transactions where iot devices involved in some sensitive processes in your company. As I can predict price will start from 5$ per month for your IoT device to be under Robonomics network control (launch, get telemetry, grant access to device).
Q4. PolkaDot Ecosystem is expected to dominate the second half of the year. As one of the IoT project that strives to continuously deliver innovations, what benefits and innovation does Robonomics bring to #PolkaDefi and the Polkadot ecosystem?
Sergei – Heh, our project is not DeFi solution, but we can contribute to decentralized finance ecosystem of Polkadot. I think, our parachain can be part of oracles services, when you will need to use IoT devices to make financial transactions for example.
Alexander – In my view, it could be real-world cases like payments to the automation, which helps to improve the data openness the data collected by machines and defense machines from total control of corporations.
Q5. Where is Robonomic Network’s target market? What does the Robonomic team think of the Asian crypto market? Does the Robonomic team have an approach plan in the present at the potential market in Crypto?
Sergei – Our market is IoT, and if look deeper Smart cities + Industry 4.0 services providers. Asia for us big part of humanity on Earth 🙂 So we hope community will grow in Asia too, and regarding crypto – i hope every one who interesting in robotics and IoT solutions based on Ethereum and Polkadot will be with us 🙂 We living in the internet, in open and distributed internet, so we hope Asia community will find us and participate in a project like everyone other regions on the planet.
Telegram Questions
Q6. As we know, every successful project has a few stories behind the scenes, what’s the story behind Robonomics success? What was that vision when it first emerged as an idea? Are there any special prototypes or upcoming Robonomics updates that you want to show/share with us?
Sergei – Nice question! Read it – http://www.fon.hum.uva.nl/rob/Courses/InformationInSpeech/CDROM/Literature/LOTwinterschool2006/szabo.best.vwh.net/idea.html.
Q7. Can you ELABORATE the main uses and practical use cases of Robonomic? Where can I use XRT & as an investment, can you give some main reasons why we should buy XRT tokens as a long-term investment?
Sergei – You can find R&D what was done around Robonomics here https://wiki.robonomics.network/docs/r-and-d-based-on-robonomics-network/. XRT (robonomics token) is protocol token, so you need it to connect your IoT / robotics under Robonomics netwrk control. Long-term investment: we will make Robonomics better and that should reflect on network protocol token. We are on the beginning, 5 years in robotics is time for first steps only 🙂
Q8. Earlier, I see that Robonomics focuses in software platform, Decentralized network providers, and some use cases based on your technologies, so Robonomics Web Services seems the new branch of evolution in Robonomics project, could you share details about it?
Alexander – Yes, RWS is generalization of our experience of last two years of development in something like solutions for growing industry, I can suggest this article: https://blog.aira.life/robonomics-web-services-overview-part-1-device-software-ec68eeb31244
Q9. What is main potential Threat do you see in the Blockchain Technology Currently?
What is the real problem project is aiming to solve with Blockchain?
Sergei – Public blockchains help us to use cryptocurrency as a money for robots and smart contracts as a liability contracts to get services from robotics directly. Lets make robotics more autonomously!
Q10. Can You talk about some Dapps development on Robonomics Platform? What role its Native Token plays in the ecosystem?
Sergei – For dapp dev : https://wiki.robonomics.network/docs/robonomics-js/
Q11. Do you have plans for Polkadot Ecosystem? How will you utilise it?
Alexander – The best points of Polkadot ecosystem is scalability and flexibility that’s really not enough in Ethereum now, it makes possible to do service fees low with the same level of security.
Q12. Can You talk about some Dapps development on Robonomics Platform? What role its Native Token plays in the ecosystem?
Sergei – Robonomics token (XRT) is protocol token so you need it to connect your robotics to network.
Q13. Why does Robonomics decide to choose an Heterogeneous tokenomics over an Homogeneous one? In a situation where by a network decided to use only one model, what’s going to happen?
Sergei – Heterogeneous tokenomics of the Robonomics network
Robonomics will make both models in the Robonomics network. Subscription model prevents unstable work for IoT devices, and the transaction fee model will grant access to the network without limitation in time and amount transactions per block. But in a resource race situation transactions from subscribers will be first.
In other cases, we will have a dilemma:
Use only tx fee model, and users will sometimes be in a resource race situation. Long term users will be affected. Strike User friendly on a dashboard.
Use only a subscription model, and lose on-demand usage for the network. 90% of ethereum users are unpredictable, they create a transaction once or twice a day and rarely go to 5–10 tx, in case they find something new. But they have been using Ethereum long enough and won’t stop using it. Value of the network will be much more if users will have access with a small payment in time.

Q14. What are the key points and advantages of Robonomics Web Services (RWS) compare to others such as Amazon Web Services?
Sergei – Decentralized computer to control your smart factory or subway in your city better than cloud-based services for IoT 😉
Q15. What is your VISION for Industry 4.0 and what role does RobonomicsNetwork want to play in this new era?
Sergei – The main idea of Robonomcis – a combination of technical and economical data into one tx is one of the most advantage keys in industry 4.0 imho.
Q16. How do you plan to spread awareness about your project in different countries where English is not spoken well? Do you have local communities for the them to let them better understand about your project?
Alexander – Currently, Robonomics makes the first steps for international community, it would be a pleasure to join some ambassadors and local community adopters.
Q17. I was reading a bit about your tokens and realized that some are more useful or important than others what is the reason why some tokens perform better than others and how does this relate to your protocol?
Sergei – Protocol token is a piece of network code, and has more functions in a network than asset token. That code controls algorithms (emission, gas to execute, slashing, weight fee, and more) and store global variables. As a result: some tokens reflect better to others for signals from an outside world.

Q18. What do you consider to be the basic knowledge we should have before developing on Robonomics Network?
Alexander – It’s depend of your preferred role, for DApp developer standard Ethereum or Polkadot technology stack is enough, for robotics developer, the minimum is knowledge of opensource robotics ecosystem. Look up into wiki to decide the best way: https://wiki.robonomics.network/docs/#robonomics-network-quick-start.
Q19. Could you explain what Digital Product Passports are for and how they work?
Sergei – Digital passport is very simple but powerful. You can just collect telemetry from iot devices on factory and put data hashes in a public blockchain, and of course keep data into IPFS. That will increase trust for your products on an international level.
Q20. What is the main focus of Robonomics Network? What is the competitive advantage of this platform over other network?
Sergei – We help robotics engineers find a scientific approach to use the new internet tech world.
Q21. Earlier, I see that Robonomics focuses in software platform, Decentralized network providers, and some use cases based on your technologies, so Robonomics Web Services seems the new branch of evolution in Robonomics project, could you share details about it?
Sergei – Yes, new branch of evolution in Robonomics project is RWS.
Q22. Why are you developing Robonomics, as a #parachain and how can I install and run the Robonomics parachain collator?
Alexander – So, the parachain is pretty balanced between the costs of consensus and flexibility. Robonomics on parachain have better performance than on smart-contracts. But have similar interoperability and security, tokenomics included.
To join collators just launch the latest release: https://github.com/airalab/robonomics/releases/tag/v0.19.0.
Q23. Currently XRT is listed on few exchanges which are not so popular. Do you have a plan to listing XRT in a major exchanges? Is there a big factor in the development of a Robonomics Network project by listing their token on an exchange?
Sergei – I think Uniswap + 1 or 2 ex is enough today for Robonomics project.
Q24. Why Robonomics platform choose Ethereum Blockchain for it’s platform? Why not Scalable Blockchain as Ethereum have many Scalability issues?
Sergei – You know others decentralized computers in 2015 – 2016 ? Ethereum was our first place when we started in 2015, we will continue support eth, but before eth 2.0 will alive we will focused on Polkadot mostly. After Eth 2.0 will happened we will support to equal ecosystems Polkadot and Etherem.
Q25. Why Robonomics platform choose Ethereum Blockchain for it’s platform? Why not Scalable Blockchain as Ethereum have many Scalability issues?
Alexander – Ethereum was chosen in 2015, it was best solution (and single) that time.
Q26. From a long-term perspective, because of its great technology, I have no doubt about the future of blockchain technology and Robonomic However, in the short term, How will the Robonomic team balance the conflict between investor profits and the health of the project ecosystem, as well as pump dump mechanisms?
Sergei – Core dev team focused on R&D, and community will support all processes around software platform, developers should focus only on R&D and issues from community, no interventions to market.
Q27. The crypto-world is becoming overcrowded with blockchain projects and tokens. What makes Robonomics different from other projects?
Sergei – Maybe scientific approach, we keep in mind science as most important part of development project. Here you can find some scientific papers: for example: https://robonomics.network/community#science.
Q28. Which is the chief features of the ROBONOMICS NETWORK which makes it different among others?
Marketing & Awareness is one of the most Important factor for any project ! So, what is the Markeing plans of ROBONOMICS NETWORK for creating more awareness & Attracting new investors?
Sergei – We focused on supporting good practice from robotics side. For example, we support ROS.org which open the doors to robonomics network for hundreds ready to use robotics project.
Q29. The IOT ecosystem is already crowded by many established players, so what exactly will Robonomics be bringing, what’s your outlook on the future of IoT and AI?
Sergei – Here is what we bring for example https://blog.aira.life/robonomics-can-72f631824670.
Q30. ⭐️ Why do you consider that robotics technology needs blockchain? In what ways can robotics benefit from it?
Alexander – Good question. The first, let’s split blockchain for cryptocurrencies and the ledger. The crypto helps to move assets, electronic cash increase speed of asset transfers in many times and it’s pretty native for robotics.
The second, technically robots don’t need ledger because robots don’t lie, but for communication with humans ledger helps to prevent double spend actions.
Q31. Robonomics network said it will provide two payment options (transaction fee model and subscription model) for IoT devices. Could you tell us why payments in a decentralized network is an area of concern for Robonomics? And how does a transaction fee model differs from a subscription model?
Sergei – Read carefully https://blog.aira.life/rws-overview-part-2-heterogeneous-tokenomics-afc209cc855 all answers for your questions here.
Q32. Why will only 50 RWS tokens be distributed? What is the purpose of this reduced number of tokens?
Sergei – Lifetime subscription and unique RWS token
The subscription model is under development right now. Daily discussions within the team about subscription architecture brought us to the specification of the first subscription RWS token in the form of a lifetime subscription. Recommend you to read Robonomics Web Services and RWS token intro.
Lifetime subscription token will help us promote Robonomics Web Services on the start, and what is most important — open Robonomics network for research and social impact data. In this case, the Robonomics network will begin gaining popularity not only as a way to connect but also as an infrastructure with realtime data for an application-specific layer.
We will give the tool for the Lifetime subscription token holders to activate and deactivate any account in the network as they want. Token holders will be responsible for the settlement of data, and if they settle useful for network users data, they will add value for the Robonomics network. That is the game — if lifetime subscription token holders activate accounts, which will settle valuable for the network data, that will reflect on Lifetime token price. Unlike XRT, RWS Lifetime holders don’t actually spend the token to use the network, it rather gives an access, but they should care what data they settle to be valuable participants in Heterogeneous tokenomics.
Q33. It is great to implement DAO that can be managed by the community, how can we help them to continue promoting this project? because if Robonomics wins, we all win?
Sergei – Yep we have now DAO on Aragon for collective decision by core dev team and we will bring dao mechanism for the community in this year too.
Q34. How is ROBONOMICS better than ethereum 1.0 and 2.0? Do you see it as a competitor?
Alexander – Robonomics will use ETH2.0 as uses Ethereum now as a transaction settlement layer, it’s a good friend, not a competitor.
Q35. What is your strategy to marketing and for Mass Adoption? What message do you want to send to community through AMA today?
Sergei – Building community who will have voice to make decision regarding of robonomics project future.
Q36. Thank you for this AMA and for sharing the vision of the project, technology and attractive features. My question is: What is the feedback you would like to receive from the CryptoNation community?
Sergei – Be involved in our project as a active member, share your ideas, try to find your interest in project and we will support you.
Q37. What tools does the Robonomics Network offer robotic engineers that other similar projects do not offer them? In what way is Robonomics better?
Sergei – Integration with ROS.org for example.
Q38. On which problems of current Market, Robonomics Network is working on? & How Robonomics Network Effectively solves that problem?
Alexander – On big view, currently, the market of IoT is totally controlled by corporations, we would provide an open source alternative for the community.
Q39. As a technological project, did you have any private sale, ICO, IEO? how is this project financed?
Sergei – First stage funded by us (2015 – 2017), 2017 – 2019 (ico, where we collect 5k ETH), and want to launch Dutch auction to distribute XRT in the end of this year. You can find more here: https://blog.aira.life/foundation-of-the-robonomics-parachain-390dfac09e5d?source=collection_home—4——5———————–.
Q40. “MAINNET LAUNCH” is one of the strategies to attract users and achieve mass adaption. Does Robonomics Network has any plan about MAINNET LAUNCH?
Sergei – Look https://robonomics.network/timeline.
Q41. The project on the water drone sounds very interesting and will certainly be a great scientific contribution! By investing in Robonomics we automatically link to this project too? or is there a way to invest in it directly?
Sergei – Yep, we love this R&D project too ) and try to improve as we can. Read this: https://blog.aira.life/water-drone-2-0-first-stage-of-development-db8ad6c81d3c?source=collection_home—4——2———————–.
Q42. What’s the utility and real life use case and application of ROBONOMICS and what’s your competitive advantage against other iot Projects like Iotex?
Alexander – IoTex is a good project, in my view, but it’s trying to make all-in-one solutions, but the future is heterogeneous, for this reason, we build Robonomics on existing solutions, networks and technologies.
Thank you to Sergei Lonshakov and Alexander Krupenkin, and Community for participating in the AMA. Have a nice day
