Sebastien – It’s a pleasure to be with you tonight (my time) and today for you. My name is Sébastien Borget, I am the COO and co-founder of The Sandbox, which is a decentralized gaming platform (http://sandbox.game). At its core, The Sandbox is an ecosystem for Players and Creators, consisting of three main components: a Voxel Editor (named “VoxEdit”), a Marketplace, and the Game itself.
We will be opening the public beta of the game in December 2020. Players will be able to pre-register, create their avatar and customize it. The first experience is for players to socialize, talk, walk and interact with each other. Players can collect tokens and resources and trade them with other players, creators, artists etc on the platform. This business model is called play-to-earn, as anything they collect in the game is truly owned by players, they can trade it to other players (inside the marketplace or outside on other websites), transfer it to other players or even resell it through our currency $SAND.

Q1. Can you elaborate more on your partnerships with ATARI and Crypto Kitties?
Sebastien – We have over 50 partnerships with award-winning game companies such as Atari, top decentralized games such as Crypto Kitties, major brands such as Shaun the Sheep to build a fun, creative “play-to-earn” Gaming platform, owned and made by players.
With ATARI, we will creating a virtual theme park where players can come, socialize, interact, chat and play together.
With Crypto Kitties, we are discussing with them the idea, we think there will be a fun way to see your favorite Crypto Kitties in 3D inside the CK land! we can also count on partners like Square Enix (with their valuable portfolio of IP, including: FINAL FANTASY®, DRAGON QUEST®, TOMB RAIDER® and many others) that participated in an investment round into The Sandbox last year. We’re quite excited by the content that is being built and will be available in our metaverse. And more partners will be announced soon, coming from Entertainment (Hollywood) and Gaming industry.
Q2. Project progress and development is the first priority for any investor! Tell us about the latest great achievements of Sandbox? Also, what are the main events we can expect from Sandbox after the IEO at Binance?
Sebastien – Great questions – we have many achievements and more to be announced. Here’s below an overview. We have been for 8 years already in the video game industry! The Sandbox project has been around since 2012 on mobile platforms and has gathered more than 40 million global installs on mobile. We’ve been working since July 2018 (2 years ago) on the new version of the game, 3D, multiplayer, multi-platform and using blockchain technology to offer a virtual world built on the Ethereum blockchain, where players can build, own, and monetize their gaming experiences. We’ve raised $4.5M USD from reputable investors on our Seed Round, including from Hashed (#1 cryptofund in Korea, True Global Ventures and Square Enix the video game company). We’ve sold for more than $1,250,000 worth of #NFTs, our LANDS (ERC-721) over 4 presales, some of them finishing within minutes to a few hours with high demand. The last Presale 4 Round 1 introduced premium lands and assets and sold out 75% in 1 hour for reference on August 4th.

This Fund will soon be in $SAND and managed by the Foundation, which supports the ecosystem of The Sandbox, offering grants to incentivize high quality content and game production on the platform. As of today the Foundation has funded over 15 game projects and granted 100 artists to produce NFTs. We have a large community of over 750,000 members over Discord, Telegram, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. And 50 ambassadors actively engaged in supporting our community and promoting our vision — that is really exciting! Having Binance as a partner will help The Sandbox to bridge the gap and help on boarding the Roblox and Fortnite generation to a new gaming experience where they can own, earn and trade everything in the game. Q3. As a community driven project, how can I contribute my quota to your success? Do you have a Global ambassadorial Program or Referral Reward System? Do I get any benefits from holding $SANDBOX token in the long term?

We are really community-driven and user-generated content. Artists can create ASSETs (Avatars, animals, beasts, and various other objects that will populate the metaverse) and mint and sell them on our marketplace, creators can build game experiences. LAND Owners can rent, sell, team up to create DISTRICTs or stake SAND on their LAND and players can play-to-earn or simply enjoy scouring the metaverse for new experiences.
Curators can help moderate the user-made contents in the marketplace and report inappropriate assets or games, and be rewarded in SAND for their actions. Players will participate in MMO-RPG type of gameplay where they can collect tokens, win prizes and then trade them with other players. There are many other ways in which you can contribute to our platform, we invite you to find your own!
Q4. How do my NFT tokens retain their value over time? Is there a deflation mechanism inside SANDBOX, such as buyback and incineration? Is there an NFT limit for every object in the Sandbox?
Sebastien – We have put in place a value system. More details can be found here https://medium.com/sandbox-game/presenting-the-sandbox-gems-catalysts-f017a18ff5fb?source=collection_home—4——0———————–. The idea is that not everyone can make Legandary / Scarce items that are more powerful in the game maker. You need to find Legendary Catalysts and assign Gems in it, so it involves an effort to acquire these tokens and these tokens can be obtained by playing or staking. We do not need to have buy back or incineration because we have already the capacity to mint NFTs with scarcity, but additionally the NFTs have attributes that are more or less powerful in correlation with their scarcity.
Q5. Since LANDs will be hosting games made by Creators, an important question that arises is, “How will players be able to discover fun LANDs and play great games?”
Sebastien – You can browse our map at www.sandbox.game/map and see there already many logos from Creaotrs and partners. we recently published about the Transportation System in our metaverse.
Players will arrive directly within worlds through spawn points and portals. They will be able to move to adjacent LANDS and use transportation portals to allow fast-travel between distant LANDs. All the Partners LANDs and our Reserve LANDS have portals, so being close to a LAND with a portal will guarantee players can go visit you easily. If your LAND has a portal, they can arrive directly into your LAND. So we are gaminfying the discovery of games in our virtual world.
Q6. What your plans in place for global expansion, are Sandbox focusing on only market at this time? Or focus on building and developing or getting customers and users, or partnerships? Can you explain this?
Sebastien – Yes absolutely, we are currently considering Asia as our priority market, with Korea first, followed by China and Japan. We have strong local communities present, and these countries are very gamer focused. We are very interested in building a community in India as well.
Q7. What goals do you want to achieve? Which Major Achievements are done in 2019 Year? What are the plans for this 2020 Year for Progress ?
Sebastien – Our next goal is to reach 1M monthly active users and launch in December 2020 the public beta of the game, showing The Sandbox is a fun virtual world gaming platform that you can enter without any knowledge of blockchain.
Q8. You organized a very useful AMA session and received lots of questions related to utilities and technology, visions of the future, … So now I want to ask you what would you like to receive from the community? thank you
Sebastien – That is a great question. Honestly, we are super excited to welcome so many new members to our team. Buying $SAND tokens is THE best way to become an extended part of The Sandbox team 🧑🤝🧑🧑🤝🧑
Blockchain games are inherently community-driven, by putting their native tokens and #NFTs into the players hands.
So I am working hard to make sure that all the new members of community and $SAND holders better understand what we are building and want to follow us on a long term basis, participating to our success over the next 3 to 5 years
Q9. Does the Sandbox community participate in the creation of the game? Are there any plans to host a sandbox game mock where the community will create rules for a new Sandbox game?
Sebastien – yes absolutely. it is entirely made by the users! Creators can also apply to our Creators Fund and be supported by our foundation, at http://gamefund.sandbox.game.

Q10. One of the main problems I see with a traditional server-based system is the inability of players to fully own their in-game item. How does Sandbox help solve this problem that we gamers have been facing for decades?
Sebastien – You are right, this is a problem. In the current game market, the centralized ownership and control of user-generated content limits creator rights and ownership. Players and Creators cannot trade the virtual goods and digital assets they purchased or won in games. Games are closed economies, walled-garden platform where users do not own the items they purchase. They only rent them, but if you leave a game, you lose everything you own, you can’t trade it, sell it, give it, exchange it.
With The Sandbox, we aim to overcome these limitations by building a decentralized gaming platform where creators are able to craft, play, share, collect, and trade without central control, enjoying secure ownership with the ability to earn cryptocurrency (SAND). This ownership will be established and guaranteed through the use of NFTs, where every in-game item will have a unique and immutable blockchain identifier.
Q11. Most of gamers don’t have technical blockchain/crypto knowledge. My question is how would you introduce sandbox games to normal users who doesn’t have enough knowledge about blockchain?
Sebastien – The Sandbox is a pioneer in the space of blockchain gaming, NFTs and true digital ownership – we have been really pushing forward the industry and awareness in general. Making a game that is fun, visually appealing and has good mechanics so you want to stay and keep playing it for a long time is our priority. Players will not come for the technology, but for the fun and the experience. Then they can benefit from the advantages offered by our decentralized model, collecting tokens, earning rewards and being able to trade game items, their creations, lands etc.
Then, besides make a great game – we have a clear growth strategy, based on
- Partnering with content companies to onboard well-known IPs.
- Conducting LAND token sales to promote the generation of user-created content.
- Conducting AMAs to educate the community.
- Constantly engaging with the public on social media channels.
- Marketing and User Acquisition to gamers, which we have experience with since we have been 8. years in the industry of games
